After the meeting was called to order Brian Rosenbaum, Calhoun County Engineer, asked for a moment of silence for Rudy Abbot who died Wednesday at age 81. Mr. Abbott was well respected as a friend, coach, and county commissioner.

- This appointment is a six-year term and Jackie Brown was nominated by Commissioner Fred Wilson to continue in this role.
- Longleaf Botanical Gardens Board Appointment – At Large – Passed with four yay votes and one nay by Commissioner Shears
- This appointment is for a five-year term and Commissioner Henderson nominated Kip Chappell to keep his role.
- 911 District Board Appointments – Districts 3, 4, 5, & At Large – Unanimously Approved
- These appointments are four-year terms. Gary Sparks was reappointed to District 3, Jeff Waldrep was selected for District 4, Matthew Wade was reappointed to District 5, and Van Roberts, Sr. was reappointed to the board in the at large position.
- DHR Board Appointment – District 4 – Unanimously Approved
- This appointment is to finish the current term due to the resignation if Janice Howard. The term runs through September 2023. The new appointee is Kristen Fargason.
- SB157 Opposition Resolution – Lifting Weight Restrictions on Logging Trucks – Unanimously Approved
- The commission opposes this resolution due to the damage to the county roads if the weight restrictions are lifted.
- Subdivision Approval – Mountain View Phase 9 – Unanimously Approved
- Eugene Hubbard was present as a representative of the project. Brian Rosenbaum also spoke to confirm that all requirements had been met. Commissioner Patterson congratulated Mr. Hubbard and also thanked him for what he does in the community.

- Public Comments
- Mayor Wayne Willis spoke as the Chairman of the Council of Mayors. He wanted to thank the Commission for the good job they are doing. He also noted that if his Senate District 12 campaign is successful, he looked forward to working with the Commission in a new role.
- Audrey Maxwell with the Chamber of Commerce wanted to thank the commission for their support. She also wanted to mention the Job Fair that was being held later in the day. She mentioned on 2/19 the 42nd Heritage Festival was being held at Long Leaf Botanical Gardens. She also noted that there has been combination with the World Games and that she would provide updates as more information is known.
- Kate Jaudon with the chamber wanted to let the Commission know they are working on political forums and dates were to come.
- Dr. West wanted to note that an Arbor Day event will be held in Alexandria on 2/20/22 and a proclamation will be made at the next meeting.
- Commissioner Hess wanted to point out that the the North East Region Basketball Tournament will be held at JSU starting next week. He also wanted to note the McClellan Horse-trails would be getting water soon and the pipes have been laid. Commissioner Patterson spoke to commend Commission Hess on the work he has done with the horse trails.
- Commissioner Shears spoke about the many events coming up at Choccolocco Park including the world games, US National Softball, College South, State Softball, and State High School softball. He also stressed that volunteers are always needed and can sign-up for at the Oxford Civic Center.
- Commission Patterson spoke for a moment on a personal level. He wanted to just say how much Rudy Abbot meant to him personally as a friend and mentor. Mr. Abbot was the one who encouraged Commissioner Patterson to run for office. He wanted to say he would not be in this position without that mentorship and encouragement. He was a wonderful coach and friend and will be sorely missed.
