Jacksonville, AL – Runners looking for a challenge will gather in Jacksonville on Saturday, April 12, for the fourth annual Chief Ladiga 100 Mile Trail Run, hosted by Zombie Trail Races. The event kicks off at 7 a.m. at the Jacksonville Community Center, offering participants a chance to tackle distances of 100 miles, 50 miles, or 50K along one of the most scenic routes in the South.
Nestled in the foothills of Appalachia, the Chief Ladiga Trail provides a stunning backdrop for the endurance race, with participants traversing wetlands, streams, forests, and farmlands, all against a mountain-filled horizon. The 100-mile course takes runners from Jacksonville to Nathan Dean Park in Rockmart, Georgia, along the Silver Comet Trail, before looping back to the starting point.
Billed as a super-fast and crew-friendly race, the event is ideal for both seasoned ultrarunners and those attempting their first 100-miler. Aid stations are strategically placed no more than eight miles apart, and crews can access 10 of the 14 stops along the route. The total elevation gain and loss for the full course is approximately 3,500 feet.
Participants will be treated to food, beverages, music, and a lively finish-line atmosphere as they complete their journey. All registered runners will receive a race t-shirt, and finishers will earn what organizers describe as the “coolest buckle/finisher medal in ultrarunning.”
