Choccolocco Park Green Prix Set for January 16 in Oxford

2026 CHOCCOLOCCO PARK GREENPOWER GRAND PRIX

OXFORD, AL — The 2026 Choccolocco Park Greenpower USA Green Prix races are scheduled for Friday, January 16, at Choccolocco Park, bringing hundreds of students together for a full day of electric car racing and STEM-focused competition.

The event will begin at 7 a.m. with team arrivals, safety checks, and technical inspections, followed by racing heats throughout the day and an awards ceremony at 5 p.m. The Green Prix is part of the Greenpower USA program, which challenges middle and high school students to design, build, and race electric-powered cars.

The January event will feature races in the F24 category, open to students in grades 6–12. According to organizers, 51 teams are already registered, and participation is expected to be comparable to the 2025 Fall Grand Prix, which drew more than 600 participants.

Racing heats will be divided between middle school and high school competitors, with multiple rounds scheduled. A lunch break is planned at midday before afternoon heats resume.

Admission to the event is free for spectators. Parking will be available on-site for a $5 fee. Choccolocco Park is located at 954 Leon Smith Parkway in Oxford.

Event Schedule

  • 7 a.m. – Team arrivals, safety and technical inspections

  • 9 a.m. – Middle School Heat 1

  • 11 a.m. – High School Heat 1

  • 12:30 p.m. – Lunch break

  • 1 p.m. – Middle School Heat 2

  • 3 p.m. – High School Heat 2

  • 5 p.m. – Awards ceremony.
