The Christmas season is typically very busy, chaotic, and often times expensive. Between decorating, buying presents, family and social obligations, and kids being out of school, it can be an exhausting time and can often be a drain on our wallets. The Jacksonville Library is focused on providing family friendly events for all ages that are 100% FREE.
There are many upcoming events planned.
Gingerbread Decoration Contest:
** DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS TODAY 12/4/18. Register by coming in or calling 256-644-0003. One registration per family. **
On December 6th at 3:30 pm join the library for a fun filled contest. All building supplies will be provided to each participant thanks to our Jacksonville Walgreens and their generous donation of the Gingerbread Kits. As you and your family build your homes you can also enjoy some warm beverages and light snacks. Once the homes are completed don’t forget to take your Gingerbread house to decorate in your own home.
Storytime with Santa:
Join the library on December 13th at 4:00 pm for warm beverages, snacks, crafts, prizes, and of course a visit from Santa himself.
Christmas Sing-Along:
Come join in the Christmas spirit on December 11th, 2018 at 5:30 pm. This sing-along is for adults and tweens. This is NOT a vocal completion. Nobody will be singled out. This is truly a fun event to share in the joy of holiday music. All song lyrics will be provided so don’t forget to come and join in the fun.
The Night Before Christmas Storytime:
On December 20th, 2018 at 10:00 am, the normally scheduled storytime reading event will be sharing in this Christmas classic, “The Night Before Christmas”.
Mrs. Claus’s Picks:
Join the library on December 27th at 10:00 am for the normally scheduled Storytime reading event and some of Mrs. Claus’s favorite stories.
Free Holiday Movie rental for library card holders. The holiday selection includes many favorites from A Charlie Brown Christmas to Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life.
