GADSDEN, AL — Gadsden State Community College’s Show Band and A Cappella Choir will continue a long-standing holiday tradition with Christmas with the Cardinals, a free community performance set for 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the Inzer Hall – Black Box Theatre on the Wallace Drive Campus.
The annual event will feature a variety of musical styles, offering classic Christmas carols and contemporary holiday selections performed by students from the Division of Fine Arts.
“The choral groups will provide holiday music full of cheer and entertainment at this year’s Christmas with the Cardinals,” said J.T. Harrell, director of the A Cappella Choir. “As director, this is my favorite time of the year. People are always eager to hear Christmas music and celebrate the season of giving.”
The A Cappella Choir will present traditional carols along with seasonal favorites, while the Show Band will perform a selection of pop, R&B, soul, and country Christmas music. Director Desmond Mitchell said students helped select this year’s lineup to create an engaging and diverse program.
“We invite the entire community to enjoy the Christmas with the Cardinals performance from the GSCC Show Band, filled with classics and contemporary songs,” Mitchell said. “Sing along to a mix of pop, R&B, soul and country Christmas music performed by our musicians and singers.”
Students have also decorated the Black Box Theatre, transforming the venue into an inviting holiday setting for guests.
“Christmas with the Cardinals is free to the public. We invite our community to come and experience the Christmas spirit with the Gadsden State Cardinal family,” said Mario Gallardo, chair of the Division of Fine Arts. “Our students are excited for the opportunity to showcase their talents and spread holiday cheer.”
The event will take place at Inzer Hall – Black Box Theatre, located at 119 Naylor Circle. More information about the A Cappella Choir and Show Band is available at www.gadsdenstate.edu/FineArts.
