Last Friday the City Of Jacksonville released the following statement:

Advertise with the Calhoun Journal

The City of Jacksonville is clearing the underbrush on the wooded, unimproved property that lies North of A Street, SW and the intersection of H Avenue, SW to identify diseased trees and vegetation. The clearing is for a proposed park at that location.

This caused many residents to speculate on what exactly will be built at this location. We reached out to City Councilman Andy Green who was happy to spread some additional light on the matter, “As a council member I am always interested in seeing our city continue its high quality of life for everyone with community activities for all persons to enjoy.” He also went on to explain that the process is still ongoing. Once the area is cleared before any decisions are made a survey would be conducted, monies looked at, and there would be discussions held in city council meetings to determine the actual details of the site. At this time no designated purpose or plans for the area are set in stone.
