Public Warming Station (122723-010124) & Holiday Reminders

Anniston, AL – As freezing temperatures loom on the horizon, the City of Anniston is urging residents to take necessary precautions. In response to the projected cold spell expected to begin midweek, officials have announced the opening of a public warming station to provide refuge during the chilly nights.

The warming station, located at The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church (1400 Noble St, Anniston, AL 36201), will be operational from 5:00 PM CST in the evenings and will close its doors at 8:00 AM CST starting Wednesday, December 27, 2023. The station is expected to remain open until Monday, January 1, 2024.

Residents seeking more information about the warming station are encouraged to contact the local United Way via their 24/7 helpline at 2-1-1.

The City is also reaching out to the community for support in meal preparations for breakfasts and dinners at the warming station. Volunteer groups and organizations willing to assist in this effort are invited to sign up through the ‘The Bridge Warming Station’ Facebook Group or reach out to Kyle Bryan at [email protected] from the United Way of East Central Alabama for additional details on how to get involved.
