City of Anniston Urges Caution as Freezing Temperatures Persist; Warming Station Opens

Anniston, AL – With freezing temperatures expected to continue into the coming week, the City of Anniston is urging residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions. In response to the projected weather conditions, the city is establishing a public warming station at The Bridge in Anniston First United Methodist Church, located at 1400 Noble St, Anniston, AL 36201.

The warming station will open its doors in the evenings at 5:00 PM CST and will remain operational until 8:00 AM CST, starting from Friday, January 12, 2024, and concluding on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. It is crucial for residents to be aware that admission into the warming station ends each night at 9:00 PM CST.

The City of Anniston recognizes the importance of providing a safe and warm space for individuals during extreme weather conditions. The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church will serve as a refuge for those seeking shelter from the cold temperatures.

In the event of any changes in the weather forecast, an extension of the warming station’s operating hours is a possibility. The city is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the well-being of its residents and will adapt accordingly.
