***As of December 27, 2022 there were 1,500 Teacher positions not filled in the state of Alabama, in response to this, the College of Education, under the leadership of Mrs. Weathers has created an experience for local high school students that have an interest in the field of education that will allow them to experience a day in the life of a teacher candidate in the college of education at JSU.
J-STEAM – This is a dual enrollment course for high school students who are interested in the field of education. In addition to the online course, Mrs. Weathers invites her students to come to campus and do activities with the Teacher Education Program students. This helps them learn more about the kinds of things they will do as Teacher Candidates if they decide to join the program after high school.
