In her welcoming remarks, Councilwoman Laster expressed heartfelt gratitude to attendees, emphasizing the significant role they play in shaping Jacksonville into a thriving and supportive community.

“On behalf of the city council and Mayor Smith, I am delighted to celebrate each of you,” Laster said. “Your dedication, hard work, and selflessness in serving our community do not go unnoticed. Today, we recognize you as the pillars of kindness and commitment who consistently go above and beyond to make Jacksonville a better place for all.”

The informal gathering brought together representatives from various local organizations, including the Jacksonville Garden Council, the Jacksonville Arts Council, and the Senior Center. Guests were encouraged to mingle, share ideas, and foster connections that could lead to future collaborations.

Entertainment for the event was provided by Nesha Warnell and Elizabeth Gragg, members of the JSU Gospel Choir, who performed moving pieces that resonated with the audience. The program also featured instrumental music, adding a soothing ambiance to the afternoon.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious meal, participated in door prize giveaways, and engaged in a spirit of fellowship. Councilwoman Laster highlighted the importance of unity, encouraging attendees to continue their impactful work and inspire others to join in community-building efforts.

Reflecting on the occasion, Laster shared with the Calhoun Journal: “On behalf of the city and as your city council representative, I want to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of attendee.
