Ohatchee, AL – A community river cleanup event is planned for Saturday, Feb. 28, at 9 a.m. at Hart’s Ferry, with volunteers invited to help remove litter and debris from the Coosa River area.
The event, organized by Alabama Scenic River Trail in partnership with Coosa Riverkeeper, will take place at the remains of Hart’s Ferry Park and Boat Ramp. Organizers say the cleanup aims to support environmental stewardship and improve the health and appearance of local waterways.
According to event details, participants are encouraged to register in advance so organizers can plan accordingly. Volunteers are asked to wear close-toed shoes and be prepared for outdoor work along the riverbank. Snacks and opportunities for community engagement will be provided during the cleanup.
The cleanup is open to the public, and individuals both on and off Facebook are welcome to participate. As of the latest information available, at least 25 people have responded to the event.
