- The purchase was for $3,900 for 16.19 acres.
- Commoner Shears noted he abstained because the seller was distant cousin and he wanted to remain out of the vote, but that he does support the purchase.
- Commissioner Henderson noted that this had been a dream of her late husband, Commissioner Eli Henderson, and she was excited and proud to be able to see it happen.
- NEAL Community Foundation Agreement – Challenger Learning Center – STEM Program – Unanimously Approved
- The County pledges $25,000 per years for four years.
- Permit-Lease Use Agreement – Gadsden State/Calhoun County Career Academy – Unanimously Approved
- An agreement with the School can use a portion of county land for care tech training, specifically skid steer training.
- McWhorter Co., Inc. MOA – Animal Control – Unanimously Approved
- McWhortor Co., Inc will enter into an agreement to donate work for site improvements for the county animal control.
- Commissioner Howell noted that this company has been very supportive and wants to do even more to help.
- Public Works Resolution – Highway Department – Fuel Island Repair – Unanimously Approved
- The total costs are agreed to stay under $100,000.
- Employment Contract Modification – County Attorney – Unanimously Approved
- 2024 Holiday Schedule Resolution – Unanimously Approved
- The holiday schedule will include:

- Public Comments
- Audrey Maxwell with the Chamber of Commerce shared that this is a busy time and there are many events common up and more planned for 2024.
- A representative for the Calhoun County Schools shared the many athletic achievements as well as building improvements that are happening.
- Julie Borrelli spoke about her run for Calhoun County Probate judge. She wanted to share her excitement and willingness to put the time and effort that this position requires.
- Jakob Williamson with the Chamber shared that there was a reception for elected officials next Tuesday and the Berman Museum from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
- Commissioner Fred Wilson spoke to recognize the Veterans present as well as all who had served.
- Amanda Draper, County HR Director, thanked the commission for approving the paid holiday scheduled. She stressed this will be an incentive for hiring to have these paid holidays.
