County Commission Recognizes Great Team Work to Ensure Continues EMS Response in Calhoun County

Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Commission held a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, June 22nd

    • Danielle Chasse, EMA Manager – Director Chamblee explained that Ms. Chasse was nominated for Rookie of the Year. This was a competitive award against every other county in Alabama. He also wanted to not how instrumental she has been to the EMA since she joined them in 2021. She worked with the COVID Pandemic as well has the tornadoes that hit Ohatchee.

      • Due to an oversight the business is requesting a one-time waiver for the penalty assessed in the amount of $326.96.
  • Public Comments
    • Jakob Williamson with the Chamber of Commerce thanked all for attended the State of the Cities. .
    • Audrey Maxwell with the Chamber of Commerce touched on the many events coming up in June and July. She also was excited to note the opening game to Oxford’s Smash it Sports. The professional fast pitch team that will have their first home game. She also talked about the work that is being conducted to help local hotels, entertainment venues, and restaurants all work together to support residents of Calhoun County and visitors. She also noted there were many upcoming July 4th events.
    • Representatives from the Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention were present to discuss their upcoming summer and back to school events.
    • Chairman Fred Wilson mentioned the Calhoun County Job Fair that will take place on June 30th.
    • All the Commissioners wanted to to thank Mark Tyler, Melissa Wood, and Gloria Floyd for working together as a team to find extra funding to ensure that Anniston EMS and Piedmont EMS would have better access to providing emergency medical transport services in the unincorporated Calhoun County area. They acknowledged this didn’t solve all the problems, but it was a step in the right direction and they hoped funding would be available in the future to continue to help in this area.
