DELTA, AL – Alabama State Parks will hold a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony Friday, October 16, 2026, for the new $25 million lodge at Cheaha State Park.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will include a preview of the newly constructed 32-room lodge, located along the park’s bluffs. The facility replaces the previous lodge, which was built in 1973.
The project represents one of the largest investments funded through an $85 million bond issue approved by Alabama voters in 2022. The funding was designated for improvements and modernization projects throughout Alabama’s state park system.
Several state officials and community leaders are expected to attend the dedication, including former Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Chris Blankenship, current Commissioner Ben Stimpson, State Sen. Randy Price and State Rep. Chad Robertson. Local civic and business leaders are also expected to participate.
The new lodge is part of broader efforts to update facilities and infrastructure within Alabama’s state parks. The replacement of the more than 50-year-old facility marks a significant investment in lodging accommodations at Cheaha State Park.
The dedication ceremony will take place at Cheaha State Park, located at 2141 Bunker Loop in Delta.
Alabama State Parks operates 21 parks encompassing more than 50,000 acres of land and water across the state. The system includes recreational facilities ranging from day-use areas and campgrounds to lodging, restaurants and golf courses. The parks rely primarily on visitor fees and support from community partners to fund operations.
