Anniston, AL – In a critical incident at a the Lenlock (Anniston) Walmart, per Anniston Chief, Nick Bowles, two patrons engaged in a heated disagreement, escalating to a point where one of the individuals brandished a firearm and fired at least three rounds. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.
The Anniston Police Department, Weaver Police Department, Jacksonville Police Department, ATF, FBI, and Major Crime Taskforce along with Anniston Fire Department and EMS swiftly responded to the scene, where investigators are actively working to piece together the details of the altercation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the alleged shooter managed to flee before law enforcement could apprehend them.
The Anniston Special Response Team (SRT) conducted a building search to ensure that there were no victims or suspects left behind inside.
Authorities have emphasized that this incident was not a random act of violence, and there is no apparent threat to the public. The motive behind the dispute and the identity of the individuals involved are central aspects of the ongoing investigation.
