Anniston, AL – On December 18, 2022, at approximately 3:45 am, officers from the Anniston Police Department were dispatched to the 4500 block of Sprague Avenue for a possible gunshot victim. Upon arrival officers located a male, later identified as Jacoby D. White, 24, of Anniston, suffering from a gunshot wound. Anniston fire department medics attempted to provided life saving techniques, but Mr. White succumbed to his injuries in route to the hospital.
Anniston Police Department Investigators arrived and initiated their investigation where they were able to develop a suspect, later identified as Jada Nicole Cook, 19, of Anniston. They were also able to learn that Cook and the victim were dating prior to the incident. Investigators determined that on the morning of the shooting the two had been involved in an argument with each other when Cook produced a firearm.
Cook was still on scene during the investigation and investigators placed her into custody. She was transported to the Calhoun County Jail and charged with Murder. The investigation is still ongoing, and investigators ask anyone with information to please contact them.
