PIEDMONT – There’s something about the White Plains and Piedmont girls not wanting to settle their score in regulation.
All three of the games between the teams this month went to overtime, with Piedmont pulling out the latest Thursday night 61-58 in double OT. It’s the first one of the three the Lady Bulldogs have won.
Piedmont’s Ava Pope led all scorers with 27 points. It was her fourth 3-pointer of the night that sent the game into its second overtime and her front end of a one-and-one with 10 seconds left that brought the final margin.
White Plains rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit to force overtime. The Lady Wildcats did have the ball at the end of the second overtime but couldn’t get off a tying shot.
Angel Bozarth led White Plains with 23 points. She scored 17 in the second half and 10 in the fourth quarter to key the comeback.
