Dynasty Continues: Weaver Girls Rise Again as Alexandria Boys Reclaim County Title

Alexandria’s boys edge defending champion Weaver, and Weaver’s girls hold off up-and-coming Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria’s boys and Weaver’s girls came away as Calhoun County wrestling champions Monday.

Alexandria’s boys rolled up 199 points and edged defending champion Weaver (187). Weaver’s girls made it three county championships in a row, beating Alexandria 180.5-153.

Coaches voted Wellborn’s Noah Smith and Weaver’s Heaven Bishop as most valuable wrestlers. Ohatchee’s Dustin Screws (boys) and Alexandria’s Skyler Payne (girls) were voted coaches of the year.
