Fire at Kronospan

Oxford, AL – The Oxford Fire Department responded to a fire at the Kronospan Flooring Plant early Tuesday morning, April 15th, after receiving an alarm at 5:21 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke coming from eight sawdust silos at the facility. Explosion dampers—safety devices designed to prevent dust explosions—were in place and operating as intended, helping to contain the situation.

Oxford Fire Department personnel worked alongside Kronospan staff and the Eastaboga Volunteer Fire Department to bring the fire under control. Crews utilized hand lines and a ladder truck to extinguish the blaze.
