ANNISTON, AL – Eastman will host a community information meeting Tuesday, Sept. 29, to provide residents with information about PCB remediation activities in and around Choccolocco Creek and explain how scientists study the movement of contaminants through sediment and surface water.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Bynum Community Center, 200 Victory Drive in Eastaboga.
The featured presentation, “Understanding Sediment and Surface Water: How Contaminants Move Through the Environment,” will focus on how scientists examine sediment and surface water to evaluate how contaminants move through the environment over time. The presentation will also address how data collected through those studies can be used to monitor conditions and plan remediation activities.
Eastman project representatives are expected to provide an update on the next phase of cleanup activities, including upcoming work, anticipated project milestones and what residents may observe as remediation efforts continue.
Community members will have an opportunity to ask questions about the project and speak with representatives involved in the ongoing remediation work in and around Choccolocco Creek.
The Sept. 29 meeting is one of the community information sessions being held as remediation work continues in the area.
