Rainbow City, AL — Emblem Credit Union has announced a significant $200,000 gift to the Challenger Learning Center of Northeast Alabama, reinforcing its commitment to education and community development. The donation will sponsor the Center’s Spacecraft experience for the next ten years, offering an immersive, hands-on simulation that brings the wonder of space exploration directly to middle school students across the region.
The Challenger Learning Center, part of the Challenger Center network, provides interactive learning opportunities designed to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). With the support from Emblem, thousands of students will engage in simulated space missions that inspire curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
The Center’s new Rainbow City location will serve students from Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Marshall, Randolph, St. Clair, Talladega, and Jefferson counties, as well as surrounding areas. The ceremonial check signing was held on September 23, 2025, marking the beginning of a decade-long partnership.
Jeff Napper, Chief Executive Officer of Emblem Credit Union, emphasized the broader impact of the investment:
“Emblem’s contribution to the naming of the spacecraft will help thousands of students expand their STEM knowledge while enhancing their skills to support the local workforce and economy for many years in the future. I look forward to seeing how this investment can help change Northeast Alabama and beyond. At Emblem, we are committed to supporting our local communities and future workforce.”
The gift highlights Emblem’s dedication to both educational innovation and long-term economic growth by preparing young learners for careers in high-demand fields.
