UPDATE – ALL CLEAR Emergency Evacuation at Jacksonville State University

JSU Emergency Evacuation

UPDATE 11:39am – No gas leak detected. Everyone can return to McGee Hall.

This morning at approximately 11am, JSU students and employees detected the smell of gas within the McGee Science Center. As a precaution, the building was evacuated while first responders conducted a thorough investigation of the premises.

It was determined that the reported smell was a residual odor from lab activity that took place the evening before. The scene has been cleared and all normal activities have resumed.

JSU put out an alert regarding a possible gas leak.  If you are located in McGee Hall at this time, please evacuate the building. Please avoid this area as emergency responders are on seen.
