Explore the Great Outdoors: Scenic Hiking Adventure at Lake Yahou

Calhoun County, AL – Adventure awaits as the Anniston Outdoor Association invites outdoor enthusiasts to join a thrilling hiking event around Lake Yahou on January 27th, starting at 9:00 am. This scenic 4-mile loop hike will take participants through the UXO trail, the Golden Buck Trail, and the Oscar Trail, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of Calhoun County’s landscape.

The adventure begins and ends at Lake Yahou, providing hikers with an immersive experience along the trails that wind through the picturesque surroundings. For those seeking a shorter trek, there’s an optional .79-mile path around the lake.

Participants are encouraged to pack snacks, water, and dress appropriately for the forecasted weather conditions. The event promises not only a physical challenge but also an opportunity to connect with nature and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

After the hike, participants have the option to gather for lunch at the nearby Cane Creek Grill. The grill offers a variety of delicious sandwiches and burgers, providing the perfect setting to share stories and relax after the outdoor adventure.

Participants are requested to assemble at Lake Yahou at 9:00 am. For those unfamiliar with the location, directions from Exit 188 on I-20 are as follows: Head north on US 431 (also known as Golden Springs Road and Anniston’s Eastern By-Pass) for about 4 miles, turn right on Iron Mountain Road, take an immediate left on Lake Yahou Road, and follow the road to the lake.
