Fatal Crash Takes Life of Anniston Man

A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:57 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, has claimed the life of an Anniston man. David W. Pledger, 55, was critically injured when the 2008 Hyosung GT650R motorcycle he was operating struck a 2016 Dodge Ram driven by Phillip Harwell, 54, of Albertville. Pledger was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The crash occurred on Wildman Road, approximately three miles west of Anniston, in Calhoun County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
