In honor of slain Selma Police Officer Marquis Dewon Moorer Governor Ivey has directed flags be flown at half-staff on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

RE: Flags Lowered Honoring Fallen Selma Police Officer Marquis Dewon Moorer

I am directing flags be flown at half-staff on Thursday, August 5, 2021, as a mark of respect for Selma Police Officer Marquis Dewon Moorer, who was tragically killed while on duty on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Let us remember the life and service of Officer Moorer, who was a 4-year veteran of the Selma Police Department. We offer our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his loved ones, the Selma Police Department and the city of Selma.

The flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of his interment on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
