OXFORD, AL — Pet owners in Calhoun County will have an opportunity to protect their furry companions at a free microchipping event on Saturday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Simmons Park, 400 Main Street, Oxford.
The event, hosted by Animal Advocates for Calhoun County (AACC), aims to help pet owners safeguard their dogs and cats by providing free microchips to increase the chances of being reunited with lost pets.
Pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs on leashes and cats in carriers to receive the service. Volunteers will be on-site to assist with chip registration, ensuring that each pet’s information is properly recorded.
Microchipping is a simple and effective way to identify pets if they go missing. Unlike collars and tags, which can be lost or removed, a microchip provides a permanent form of identification that veterinarians and shelters can scan to help reunite pets with their families.
The event will last for three hours, and pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of the free service.
