ANNISTON, AL — Pet owners in Calhoun County will have an opportunity to protect their furry companions this weekend during a Free Microchipping Event hosted by Animal Advocates for Calhoun County (AACC). The event will take place on Saturday, May 31, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at 1212 Quintard Avenue in Anniston.
This community service initiative is aimed at increasing the chances of lost pets being reunited with their families. Microchipping is a simple and effective way to ensure pets can be identified if they are ever lost or separated from their owners.
Upon arrival, pet owners will check in and proceed through one of several microchipping lines, where AACC volunteers will assist with chip registration via smartphone. The process is designed to be quick, efficient, and stress-free for both pets and owners.
“Every pet that is microchipped has a significantly higher chance of being reunited with its family,” organizers emphasized. “We’re making it as easy as possible—just check in, get in line, and we’ll help you do the rest.”
To ensure safety and smooth operation, event guidelines require that dogs be on non-retractable leashes between 4 and 6 feet in length, and cats must arrive in secure carriers. The event is open to the general public, but breeders are asked not to participate.
AACC encourages all local pet owners to take advantage of this free resource, noting that a microchip can be a life-saving tool in the event a pet ever goes missing.
