Jacksonville, AL – Pet owners in Calhoun County will have an opportunity to help protect their animals through a free microchipping event scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Jacksonville Community Center.
The event, organized by Animal Advocates for Calhoun County (AACC), will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the pavilion located behind the community center at 501 Alexandria Rd SW in Jacksonville, AL.
During the three-hour event, volunteers will provide free microchipping for both dogs and cats. Microchipping is a common identification method that places a small chip under the animal’s skin, allowing veterinarians and shelters to scan the chip and identify the owner if the pet becomes lost.
In addition to implanting the microchips, volunteers will also assist pet owners with registering the chip information, which ensures the pet can be linked to its owner in national microchip databases.
Organizers ask that all pets be properly secured for the safety of both animals and attendees. Dogs must be on leashes, and cats must be transported in carriers.
Animal Advocates for Calhoun County regularly hosts community outreach events aimed at improving pet safety and supporting responsible pet ownership. The March 7 event marks the organization’s first free microchipping clinic of 2026.
Community members are invited to bring their pets to the Jacksonville Community Center pavilion to take advantage of the free service.
