GADSDEN, AL — A new Independence Day celebration is coming to Gadsden as organizers prepare to host the inaugural Freedom Fest on July 3–4 at The Amp, located at 90 Walnut St.
The two-day public event is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. each day and will feature live entertainment, food vendors, hot air balloons, fireworks and family-friendly activities.
According to event organizers, Freedom Fest will include Gadsden’s first Hot Air Balloon Festival, with tethered balloon rides and illuminated balloon displays planned during the weekend.
The event will also feature free live music throughout both days. The WinSouth Credit Union Concert Series will conclude with a July 4 performance by Black Jacket Symphony, which is scheduled to present its Yacht Rock show.
Organizers also announced that the celebration will culminate with what they describe as the Southeast’s largest fireworks display. The fireworks are planned to launch from the Broad Street Bridge over the Coosa River on the evening of July 4.
Admission to Freedom Fest is free, and organizers say the concerts and fireworks are also free to attend.
The event is being hosted by The Amp and is open to the public.
