Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College has received funding from the Alabama Department of Human Resources to employ nine area students through its Summer Work Program.
The program is designed to provide participants with hands-on work experience across multiple departments within the college. Available positions include roles in Student Services at the Valley Street Campus, Maintenance, Skills Training, Student Life, the Business, Legal and Computer Science Department, and the Payroll Department.
The Summer Work Program will run from May 1 through September 30. Students selected for the program will earn $12 per hour and may work up to 19 hours per week.
Eligibility requirements include applicants being between the ages of 16 and 24 and coming from households with incomes below 200 percent of the 2025 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Applicants are required to reference the DHR income chart for household size limits and must complete and submit an Eligibility and Affirmation form along with their application.
Students selected for maintenance positions will assist with tasks such as lawn care, trash collection, furniture moving, and pressure washing. Those placed in other departments will perform general office duties, including filing, organizing, and answering phones.
