Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation receives $10,000 grant

Gadsden, AL – The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from the Tillotson-Menlo Charitable Foundation to expand nursing program training resources at Gadsden State Community College’s Cherokee Campus.

The funding will be used to enhance hands-on training opportunities for nursing students, supporting the Health Sciences Division’s efforts to prepare graduates for today’s healthcare workforce.

“This generous grant will make an immediate and meaningful impact on our nursing students,” said Dr. Joey Battles, dean of Health Sciences at Gadsden State. “Enhancing our training resources on the Cherokee Campus ensures that our students have access to the tools and experiences they need to succeed in today’s healthcare environment. We are grateful for partners who believe in the potential of our students.”

The Health Sciences Division at Gadsden State Community College offers degrees and certificates across a wide range of healthcare-related fields and plays a key role in strengthening the regional healthcare workforce by preparing skilled and compassionate professionals.

The Cardinal Foundation works to secure grants and donations from public and private sources to expand educational opportunities for Gadsden State students.

“We are excited to receive the Tillotson-Menlo Charitable Foundation funds,” said Hillary Folsom, director of advancement at Gadsden State Community College and liaison to the Cardinal Foundation. “The Cardinal Foundation is always researching ways to expand our partnerships throughout the Gadsden State service area, ultimately benefiting our students and allowing us to fulfill our mission of, simply put, helping people.”

Based in Menlo, Georgia, the Tillotson-Menlo Charitable Foundation is a private nonprofit organization that supports health, education, economic development, and cultural initiatives in Chattooga County and surrounding communities, including neighboring counties in Alabama. Established in 2005 with initial funding from the Tillotson Corporation, the foundation has awarded millions of dollars to organizations across the region.
