Gadsden, AL – The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation has received funding through the Walmart Spark Good Grant Program to support the expansion of public safety training initiatives aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness and community resilience across the region.
According to Gadsden State Community College, the grant will be used to enhance access to training opportunities that provide individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively during emergency situations.
Through the funding, the Cardinal Foundation will work alongside departments across Gadsden State Community College to offer a variety of public safety programs focused on emergency response, situational awareness, and community preparedness. College officials said the programs are intended to increase access to life-saving education and essential safety resources for residents throughout the area.
“This funding creates meaningful opportunities for our community to become better prepared and more resilient,” said Jay Freeman, Chief of Police at Gadsden State. “By expanding access to public safety training, we are empowering individuals with the tools and confidence they need to respond in critical moments. Partnerships like this strengthen the safety and well-being of our entire community.”
The Cardinal Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm supporting Gadsden State Community College, helping connect donors and community partners with programs that benefit students and local residents. College officials said partnerships such as the Walmart Spark Good Grant Program help increase access to workforce development opportunities and community-based training programs.
