Gadsden State Community College Celebrates Spring 2025 Graduates at Commencement Ceremony

Gadsden State student earns diploma and scholarship

Centre, AL – Gadsden State Community College held its Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony on May 13 at the Richard Lindsey Arena at Gadsden State Cherokee. The event marked a significant milestone for hundreds of students who successfully completed their program requirements during the spring semester.

Three exceptional students were chosen to deliver keynote addresses during the ceremony: Daniel Brown, Ashley Hawk, and Kristina O’Neal. Each speaker shared their personal journey and aspirations, serving as an inspiration to fellow graduates, families, and faculty in attendance.

Daniel Brown, of Ohatchee, earned both an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and an Associate of Science in General Studies. During his time at Gadsden State, Brown was actively involved as a tutor with the Cardinal Tutoring Center and was a member of Veterans Upward Bound, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Student Nursing Association. Following graduation, he plans to work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at UAB and continue pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Ashley Hawk, a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, added to her educational accomplishments by receiving a Short-Term Certificate for Word Processing Specialist, in addition to a previously earned Associate of Applied Science in Office Administration Medical Coding and Scribing. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Student Support Services and plans to continue her studies in health information technology at Gadsden State.

Kristina O’Neal, from Centre, received her Associate of Applied Science in Registered Nursing. A dedicated student, she was a member of the Student Nursing Association, Cardinal Tutoring, and Student Support Services. O’Neal is set to begin her professional career in the emergency department at Regional Medical Center.

In addition to the heartfelt speeches, the ceremony recognized graduates from across Alabama and neighboring states. Students represented cities and communities including Albertville, Anniston, Ashland, Boaz, Birmingham, Centre, Gadsden, Jacksonville, Oxford, and beyond. These graduates completed programs ranging from nursing and health sciences to office administration, general studies, and technical training.

With the conferral of degrees and certificates, the ceremony symbolized not just the end of one chapter, but the beginning of new opportunities for the Spring 2025 class. Gadsden State Community College continues to uphold its mission of empowering students to achieve academic excellence and prepare for meaningful careers.
