Gadsden State cuts Ribbon for the Gene Haas Center

Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College marked a significant milestone in workforce development on March 19 with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Gene Haas Center for Advanced Machining and Engineering Technology. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to train students in advanced manufacturing and precision machining, equipping them with the essential skills required in today’s industrial landscape.

The Gene Haas Lab features cutting-edge CNC machines and industry-standard tooling systems, mirroring the technology utilized in modern manufacturing settings. The facility will support students enrolled in Gadsden State’s manufacturing and automation programs, providing hands-on experience to ensure they are well-prepared for careers in the field.

“The Gene Haas Lab represents a significant investment in both student success and regional workforce development,” said Andy Robertson, dean of Workforce Development. “By providing hands-on training utilizing these state-of-the-art CNC machines and industry-standard tooling systems, we are equipping our students with the critical skills needed to thrive in today’s advanced manufacturing sector. This facility not only enhances learning opportunities but also strengthens our ability to meet the growing demands of local and regional industries.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony gathered Gadsden State leadership, faculty, students, local officials, and industry partners, all celebrating the collaborative efforts that brought the facility to fruition. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the new center and witness live demonstrations of the CNC machines in action.

“The ribbon-cutting ceremony highlights the strong collaboration between Gadsden State, industry partners, and the community,” Robertson added. “Bringing together leaders, faculty, students, and local officials underscores the shared commitment to workforce development. Seeing the CNC machines and knowing the training that will be provided to our students on these machines demonstrates the real-world training opportunities this facility provides. This will ensure our students are well-prepared for successful careers in advanced manufacturing.”

The opening of the Haas Lab reaffirms Gadsden State’s dedication to preparing students for high-demand careers and strengthening the region’s workforce pipeline through innovation and applied learning.
