According to FAME USA leadership, the Gadsden State chapter stood out for its strong communication, detailed preparation, and high level of execution throughout the review process. The program was also recognized for several best practices, some of which are now being considered for adoption across the national FAME network.

Andy Robertson, dean of workforce development at Gadsden State, said the recognition highlights the collective effort behind the program.

“This recognition is a direct result of the commitment our faculty, staff and industry partners make every day to our students and to the success of this program,” Robertson said. “Being identified as a top-performing chapter and having our practices considered for national implementation speaks to the strength of our model and the impact we are making in advanced manufacturing education.”

The FAME program at Gadsden State uses an “earn-while-you-learn” approach, allowing students to combine classroom instruction with paid, hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing. Developed in collaboration with industry partners, the program aims to equip students with practical skills aligned with current workforce demands.

“Gadsden State Community College delivers exceptional education and innovative workforce development, focused on community engagement and creating a positive economic impact,” Smith said. “This outstanding achievement reflects that commitment and the hard work of our community partners, faculty and staff. I commend Dean Robertson and his team and appreciate our industry partners for supporting workforce training at Gadsden State.”

As part of the recognition, the Gadsden State FAME Chapter received digital badges representing both its Quality Assurance Accreditation and Top Performing Chapter status. The program is also scheduled to be recognized at the 2026 FAME National Conference.

College officials say the chapter continues to serve as a model for advanced manufacturing education, contributing to workforce development efforts and helping shape best practices across the country.
