Gadsden State nursing student selected for White House HBCU initiative in Philadelphia

Gadsden, AL – Chantara Williams, a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) student at Gadsden State Community College’s Valley campus, has been chosen to represent the college at the prestigious White House Initiative on Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Development through Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) next month. This recognition places Williams among a select group of students nationwide who are honored for their academic achievements, leadership, and civic engagement.

The White House Initiative aims to prepare the next generation of leaders who will champion equality, excellence, and economic development in their communities. As part of this initiative, selected scholars serve as ambassadors for their institutions and participate in a series of events, including the National Annual HBCU Week Conference, which will be held in Philadelphia from September 15-19.

Williams’ selection is a significant achievement, highlighting both her personal dedication and Gadsden State’s commitment to fostering leadership and excellence among its students. Her passion for nursing, coupled with her community service efforts, exemplifies the qualities that the HBCU Scholar Recognition Program seeks to promote.

“We are incredibly proud of Chantara Williams for this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Kathy Murphy, President of Gadsden State Community College. “Her selection as an HBCU Scholar is a testament to her hard work and dedication, and we look forward to seeing her represent our college and community on this national stage.”
