Centre, AL – Gadsden State Community College’s Cherokee Campus is hosting a Thanksgiving food drive to help replenish the Cherokee County Family Care Center’s food pantry and provide assistance to local families experiencing hardship during the holiday season.
The campus is encouraging students, faculty, staff, and community members to contribute nonperishable food items through November 19, 2026. Donations will support the Family Care Center, which provides food and other essential resources to families in need throughout the community.
Requested donations include canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, Hamburger Helper, and other nonperishable boxed meals. Items may be dropped off in the lobby of Gadsden State Cherokee.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to organize this meaningful project to support families in our community,” said Marie Roberts, Gadsden State Cherokee’s library assistant and organizer of the food drive. “This effort allows us to provide assistance to families who may be struggling this holiday season.”
The initiative is intended to help address food insecurity while encouraging community involvement and support for local families ahead of Thanksgiving.
According to the college, the food drive is part of an effort to assist the Family Care Center in meeting the needs of households facing financial challenges during the holiday season.
“We’re committed to making a difference in our community, and this food drive is one way to show our support for those in need,” Roberts said. “With the help of our students, faculty, staff and the entire community, we hope to brighten the holidays for many families in our area.”
Community members interested in participating can deliver donations to the Gadsden State Cherokee Campus lobby through Thursday, November 19.
