Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College recognized students completing multiple healthcare training and nursing programs during a series of pinning ceremonies held December 15–16 across its campuses.
Skills Training Division Ceremony
On December 16, the Skills Training Division honored students earning certifications as medication assistants and advanced nursing assistants with phlebotomy during a ceremony held at the Advanced Manufacturing Center on the East Broad Campus.
The 11-week Advanced Nursing Assistant/Phlebotomy Program prepares students to perform routine nursing-related services, including phlebotomy, in hospitals and long-term care facilities. All completers passed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) examination, and several also earned national phlebotomy credentials.

Four students—Carman Cameron, Chellsea Davis, Ruthie Martin, and Kalie McCurry—also passed the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy exam to become Certified Phlebotomy Technicians.
The Medication Assistant Program, which can be completed in five weeks, prepares students to administer routine medications in healthcare settings such as nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

The 22 students also received their associate degree in applied science in Registered Nursing during commencement exercises on December 18.
