Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College will host a college-wide Black History Month Celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at 1 p.m. on the Wallace Drive Campus at Meadows. The event is open to students, employees and members of the community.
The celebration will honor the history, culture and contributions of Black Americans while bringing together the Gadsden State community for a shared moment of reflection and recognition. Attendees can expect a program designed to highlight the importance of Black history and its ongoing influence on education, culture and society.
“This event reflects our commitment to honoring history and bringing our campus community together,” said Ricky Tillis, director of the Gadsden State HBCU Valley Street Campus. “Black History Month provides an opportunity to recognize the achievements and contributions that continue to shape our communities.”
The program theme, “Building Futures Through Education: Celebrating Black History, Workforce Innovation, and Community Engagement,” is inspired by the college’s mission. Organizers say the theme reflects Gadsden State’s focus on education, workforce development and community engagement while capturing a shared vision for the college-wide observance.
The event is part of the college’s broader recognition of Black History Month and aims to provide an opportunity for participants to come together in celebration and reflection.
