Gadsden, AL – For the first time in program history, a Gadsden State Community College softball player has been named the Division I Player of the Week by the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC). Freshman catcher and utility player Ally Croy earned the honor after an outstanding week at the plate, posting a .643 batting average.
Croy, a native of Lyerly, Ga., and graduate of Chattooga High School, recorded seven runs, two home runs, eight RBIs, and one stolen base in recent games, showcasing her versatility and impact on the field.
“Ally is an incredibly talented player who works and competes as hard as any player I’ve ever coached,” said Gadsden State head coach Ryan Clark. “She is a versatile player who is a major factor in our team’s growth. Her performance this week is a reflection of her dedication to the game. We are excited to see what she will accomplish this season with the team.”
Croy’s recognition comes as the Gadsden State Cardinals continue their first season back after the program was reinstated in 2024. The team is currently 6-8 and steadily building momentum.
“The team is doing a great job finding ways to win,” Clark said. “We’ve been up against some tough competition early this season, but they continue to step up to the challenge. The players are starting to really gel and take on their roles to help the team succeed. Ally’s recognition is just one example of the hard work and talent that is pushing us forward.”
As Croy and the Cardinals look ahead, her standout performance is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting season for Gadsden State softball.
