GADSDEN, AL — Dr. Blake Lewis, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Gadsden State Community College, reached a major career milestone this week, securing his 300th career win as a head coach during the Cardinals’ doubleheader against Alpena Community College.
The milestone reflects Lewis’s coaching success within the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), achieved through his leadership at both Gadsden State Community College and Lawson State Community College.
Lewis was named Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Gadsden State in 2022. Since then, he has overseen growth in the Cardinals’ baseball program while also contributing to the broader development of Gadsden State Athletics. During his tenure, the program has focused on competitive play, student-athlete development, and engagement with the surrounding community.
“This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our student-athletes, coaching staff, and support personnel,” Lewis said. “I’m incredibly proud of this moment, but even more proud of the young men who have made these wins possible.”
Prior to joining Gadsden State, Lewis held coaching positions at Lawson State Community College and the University of Montevallo, among other institutions. His coaching career has been marked by consistent leadership and a commitment to player development.
Lewis’s work within the Alabama Community College Conference was recognized in 2025 when he received Coach of the Year honors.
College officials also recognized Lewis’s milestone during an athletic recognition event held Feb. 24, where campus leadership and staff highlighted his contributions to the baseball program and to Gadsden State Athletics as a whole.
The 300th win marks a notable moment in Lewis’s coaching career and reflects the continued progress of the Cardinals baseball program under his leadership.
