Birmingham, AL – On September 6, 2024, U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) will attend the Alabama launch of Goldman Sachs’ business education initiative, 10,000 Small Businesses, at the Innovation Depot in Birmingham. The program is part of Goldman Sachs’ larger $100 million investment in rural communities, aimed at providing support and resources for small business owners across 20 states over the next five years.
Senator Britt, who will be a featured speaker at the event, will also take part in a conversation with Anna Palmer of Punchbowl News. U.S. Representative Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) will also participate in the event, along with key Goldman Sachs representatives, including John F.W. Rogers, Executive Vice President, and Asahi Pompey, Global Head of Corporate Engagement.
Alabama is one of the first states selected for this initiative, reflecting the importance of small businesses in both rural and urban areas. The 10,000 Small Businesses program provides entrepreneurs with comprehensive business education and access to capital, empowering them to grow their businesses and contribute to local economies. As part of this expansion, $20 million will be deployed to small businesses in the rural South through a partnership with HOPE Enterprise Corporation and Hope Credit Union. HOPE will allocate $3 million to Alabama-serving community development financial institutions (CDFIs).
The event is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. CT, followed by the conversation with Senator Britt at 1:15 p.m. CT. The event will be available for both in-person attendees and virtual streaming.
