Governor Ivey Introduces Huntley, New First Dog of Alabama

Montgomery, AL – Governor Kay Ivey officially introduced Huntley, a three-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever, as the new First Dog of Alabama on Monday.

Huntley, a female Yellow Lab, now resides with Governor Ivey at the Alabama Governor’s Mansion. The governor shared her enthusiasm for the newest addition, describing Huntley as well-mannered, playful, and a welcome presence at the residence.

“Huntley is amazing, and I am excited to introduce her to my fellow Alabamians,” Governor Ivey stated. “She and I enjoy practicing her commands and tricks, playing with her toys, and we have even had a chance to break away for a weekend at the lake.”

According to the governor’s office, Huntley has quickly adapted to her new home and surroundings. In addition to living at the mansion, she will occasionally accompany Governor Ivey to her office at the State Capitol.

Huntley joins a longstanding tradition of gubernatorial pets serving as informal ambassadors, often helping to highlight causes related to animal welfare and public engagement.
