Governor Ivey Announces $15 Million Growing Alabama Funds, Accelerating Industrial Site Development

Montgomery, AL  – Governor Kay Ivey announced today that the Renewal of Alabama Commission has allocated over $15.5 million in Growing Alabama funding to seven economic development organizations across the state. The funding aims to accelerate the development of industrial sites and enhance Alabama’s readiness to attract new businesses.

The Growing Alabama program provides tax credits to eligible taxpayers who contribute to economic development organizations for approved projects. Taxpayers receive a tax credit equal to their donation, promoting investment in site readiness and infrastructure improvements.

The funding will benefit the following communities:

  • Auburn: $2.76 million for site work and public infrastructure at Auburn Technology Park.
  • Brundidge: $473,275 for site work and public infrastructure at North Industrial Park.
  • Enterprise: $2.9 million for site work and public infrastructure at Enterprise Commerce Park.
  • Fort Payne: $1.07 million for site improvements at the Jacoway Industrial Site.
  • Greene County: $1.31 million for site work and public infrastructure at Crossroads of America Industrial Park.
  • Lake Martin Area: $2.5 million for site improvements at Lake Martin Regional Industrial Park.
  • Walker County: $4.71 million for site work and public infrastructure at Heritage Industrial Park.

Governor Ivey highlighted the importance of these investments, stating, “We’ve been on a long winning streak when it comes to economic development, but we need to replenish our inventory of available industrial sites across the state to stay in the game. The Growing Alabama program is helping us do just that.”

The program supports the development of shovel-ready industrial sites, which are essential for attracting new facilities and expansions. Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce Ellen McNair, who chairs the Renewal of Alabama Commission, emphasized the program’s impact: “This round of Growing Alabama allocations will make a real difference for these communities, accelerating the development of sites needed for high-impact economic projects that create significant job opportunities.”

The Alabama Department of Commerce administers the Growing Alabama program, with a total of $23 million available this calendar year. Eligible projects include site preparation, infrastructure upgrades, and improvements to make land ready for industrial use.
