Chilton County, AL – Governor Kay Ivey joined leaders of Alabama Mineral Springs LLC to commemorate the launch of their ambitious five-year project aimed at sustainably distributing mineral-rich water from a free-flowing spring in Chilton County.
The company officially began production today at their newly constructed $6 million bottling plant, located at the site where natural spring water was first discovered over 165 years ago. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the state-of-the-art facility were held this morning in the Mineral Springs community. Bottles of their flagship product, “Simply Artesian” water, are set to go on public sale starting early July.
“I am thrilled to see this historic site revitalized by a business committed to bringing a healthy, ‘Made in Alabama’ product to the global market,” said Governor Ivey. “This project represents dedication and vision, and I am grateful to Alabama Mineral Springs LLC for recognizing the tremendous potential here.”
Founded in 2019, Alabama Mineral Springs LLC aims to capitalize on the exceptional quality of the spring’s water, boasting a rich array of minerals and six of the seven naturally occurring electrolytes, as confirmed by the company’s testing. The spring’s water emerges from depths of approximately 200 feet, free from surface water contaminants.
Diana Windsor, sales and marketing manager for Alabama Mineral Springs LLC, highlighted that the spring yields approximately 22,000 gallons per day. Their advanced bottling plant can process up to 5,000 servings of spring water per hour.
“Our mission is centered on preserving a valuable natural resource and providing healthy hydration to an expanding market,” Windsor stated. “We are committed to capturing the pristine purity and inherent benefits of Alabama’s mineral springs, cherished by our local community for generations.”
“Simply Artesian” water will be available for purchase online and at select grocery and convenience stores across Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida panhandle starting July 5th. The company also plans to pursue government contracts and partnerships with school systems.
The spring site has a storied history, previously serving as a healing center and spa for approximately five decades. In the 1990s, it housed a boys’ and girls’ ranch under the Alabama Division of Youth Services before being dormant for nearly 25 years.
As part of their project, Alabama Mineral Springs LLC undertook significant environmental cleanup efforts, including the removal of overgrown vegetation and the controlled demolition of the historic Mineral Springs Health Resort Hotel in partnership with the Collins Chapel Fire Department in 2021. Construction of the new facility commenced in March 2023.
Brenda Tuck, Rural Development Manager for the Alabama Department of Commerce, commended Alabama Mineral Springs LLC for their commitment to sustainability and innovation in rural Alabama.
“This venture exemplifies how innovative projects with a strong sustainability focus can thrive in our rural communities,” Tuck remarked. “Alabama Mineral Springs LLC has demonstrated a steadfast dedication to responsible practices, ensuring the protection of this precious spring for future generations. I am excited to witness the continued success of this endeavor.”
