Greek Organizations Find Common Ground and Band Together in Honor of Pi Day!

Jacksonville, AL – In celebration of Pi Day, a day to honor the mathematical constant pi (π), Greek organizations from Jacksonville State University have put their differences aside to come together and host an exciting Pi Day event on March 14th from 3-5 P.M. at the T.M.B. Lawn.

The event is hosted by Alpha Omicron Pi and contains a collaboration between various Greek organizations at Jacksonville State University, including Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, and Phi Mu. The aim of the event is to promote unity, collaboration, and diversity within the Greek community while celebrating the significance of pi in STEM fields.

The event will feature the opportunity to pay $2 to “pie” a Greek individual from one of those organizations. They are accepting payment via cash or Venmo. One will receive a free piece of pizza for participation! The event is open to anyone in the community who is interested in celebrating Pi Day and learning about its significance. Last year’s Pi Day had an attendance of approximately 120 people. Alpha Omicron Pi is hoping to see at least a 50% increase of attendance this year to reach their goal of raising $500 during the event.

It is truly phenomenal to see these organizations put all differences aside to honor this mathematical celebration. This event is for an amazing cause as well. The profits earned goes directly towards each different organization’s philanthropy- which includes the Arthritis Research Foundation, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Ability Experience.

“I am so excited to announce that Alpha Omicron Pi is hosting our third annual Pie a Pi and Phi event this year. As AOII’s, we strive to have good relationships with other Greek organizations on campus. These types of events help us bond together to raise money for our amazing philanthropy’s! Anyone and everyone is invited! … Come out to the TMB lawn right here on JSU’s campus and pie us,” said Ava Malone, President of Alpha Omicron Pi.
