Happening Now

Jacksonville can welcome a new business to its community.  Hair at the Square Day Spa Grand Opening is being held today and tomorrow, November 10th and 11th, at their location at 28 Public Square from 9 am – 7 pm. We had the opportunity to talk to the owners Danny Kellner and Jason Kellner, also of Kolectic Treasures and Antiques located next door.

Hair at the Square is the brain child of Danny who has wanted to start a New York style day spa and salon “with a southern twist” for a long time. Although this is his first day spa business that he has started he made sure to surround himself with people from the industry to guide him through the pitfalls of opening a new business. One of those major mentors is Shanda Petroff whos mother owned and operated Salon Chateau in Anniston. Ms. Petroff believed in Danny’s project so much she donated some of the furniture that was once used at Salon Chateau.

The Staff

Photo of one of the hair boothsDanny explained the different services that are available and why their prices are so affordable. Hair at the Square is a one stop day spa and salon where people can go to be pampered, re-energize, or just relax. The team of professionals working in this brightly colored business each know exactly how to treat customers. Their hair stylists, Tammy Mitchell, Shiloh Livermore, Chase Henderson, Nicole Willis, and Kristy Jackson each have years of experience that customers will learn to appreciate; from color specializing to formal engagements, and men’s styling they have someone on staff that can fulfill your personal needs.

Photo of massage roomJesse Whitlock is a lifelong Jacksonville resident and the licensed massage therapist providing stress relief and muscle therapy to clients needing some time to forget about their stressful lives. She offers massage sessions starting from 30 minutes and goes up to 120 minuets (in 30 minute increments), which can include Swedish massage, Hot Stone massage, Deep Tissue with Sauna massage, and much more. Jesse also provides aroma therapy and essential oils to provide the complete relaxation package. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are accepted if a time period is available.

Photo of massage chairs Hair at the Square would not be complete without a nail technician. Brynja Paulk provides full manicures and pedicures with the relaxation of dual massage seats. Services range from a basic nail trim and maintenance to deluxe packages that include skin treatment and massage. She also offers Solar Pink and White with guaranteed no yellowing as well as Acrylic’s and Gel nails so the different options are available to make sure each customer can find what they need.

The Spa Experience

Photo of hallUpon entering Hair at the Square you are immediately drawn to the bright yellow interior which creates an inviting environment. The reception area has many all natural products for customers looking to bring the spa experience home. Danny carries items such as beard wash, general hair care, scented soaps, raw honey, and essential oils to help his customers relax when they are at home as well.

Walking down the hall each staff member has their own station that is separated into private rooms. While each room is different they are all in tune with each other and offer a continuity that is easy on the senses.

Stop by Today

Danny and Jason would like to invite everyone from the community to stop by for a tour of the spa and to meet the staff. There are beverages and light finger snacks and for everyone that visits today they will receive a free sample of one of the salt scrubs available in a variety of scent choices.

If you are not able to stay long and enjoy some of the spa services they offer gift certificates that are good up to 6 months that you can use yourself or give to a friend or loved one.

Hair at the Square is located on the corner building next to Koletic Treasures and Antiques (look for the balloons) and has has plenty of parking around the square and on the side of the building.
