Iconic Rock Legends Grand Funk Railroad Set to Electrify Oxford Performing Arts Center

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD

Oxford, AL – Get ready for an unforgettable night of rock ‘n’ roll as “The American Band” itself, Grand Funk Railroad, takes the stage at the Oxford Performing Arts Center on Thursday, October 5th, at 7:00 pm. With an illustrious history spanning decades, this high-energy five-piece group is embarking on a nationwide tour, with their Oxford performance marking just one stop among forty shows scheduled across the USA this year.

What makes this event even more extraordinary is the inclusion of original founding members Don Brewer and Mel Schacher. Don Brewer, who not only takes the lead behind the drums but is also the writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, “We’re an American Band,” is a true legend in the world of rock. Mel Schacher, often referred to as “The God of Thunder” for his thunderous bass guitar skills, is another pillar of Grand Funk Railroad’s enduring legacy.

Joining Don and Mel on this thrilling musical journey are a lineup of true “All Stars.” Singer Max Carl, a rock veteran known for his time with 38 Special, penned and sang 38’s highest charting hit, “Second Chance.” He was also a co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don Brewer himself refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet,” and his presence promises to add a dynamic element to the performance.

Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick, renowned for his twelve-year stint with KISS, brings his exceptional talents to the stage. With credits that include collaborations with artists like Michael Bolton, Meatloaf, and Billy Squier, Bruce’s guitar prowess is sure to captivate the audience. Interestingly, KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk, making this performance a remarkable convergence of rock legends.

Adding a touch of class to the ensemble is keyboardist Tim Cashion, who holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Fondly referred to as “Dr. Tim,” his impressive credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, as well as English soul sensation Robert Palmer.

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the timeless music of Grand Funk Railroad and their stellar lineup of musicians. Get your tickets now and be prepared to be swept away by a night of rock ‘n’ roll history at the Oxford Performing Arts Center on October 5th!
