Calhoun County, AL — Two incoming members of the Calhoun County Commission are planning a series of community listening sessions in October as they prepare to take office in November.
Commissioner-elect Michael Webb, who will represent District 3, and Commissioner-elect Tobi Burt, who will represent District 4, have announced meetings throughout their respective districts aimed at hearing directly from residents about community concerns, needs and priorities.
The two will succeed current District 3 Commissioner Carolyn Henderson and District 4 Commissioner Terry Howell. The county currently identifies District 3 as covering portions of western Calhoun County, including Wellborn, Ohatchee, West Oxford and the Anniston Army Depot area, while District 4 includes communities such as Saks, Weaver, Alexandria and Webster’s Chapel.
Webb currently serves as president of the Calhoun County Board of Education and qualified for the District 3 commission seat after Henderson announced she would not seek another term. Burt won the Republican primary for the District 4 seat in May.
Both incoming commissioners have described the listening sessions as opportunities to hear from residents before beginning their terms. The meetings are scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with sessions alternating between Districts 3 and 4 throughout October.
The schedule begins Monday, Oct. 6, with two meetings held simultaneously. Webb will host the District 3 Wellborn Community Meeting at the Wellborn High School Library, 135 Pinson Rd, Anniston, AL 36201. Burt will host the District 4 Saks listening session at the Saks Community Center, 20 Hess Drive, Anniston, AL 36206.
On Monday, Oct. 13, Webb’s District 3 meeting will be held at the Bynum Community Center, 200 Victory Dr, Oxford, AL 36203. Burt’s District 4 meeting will take place at the Webster’s Chapel Community Center, 1550 AL Hollingsworth Road, Wellington, AL 36279.
The third round of meetings is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20. Webb will meet with District 3 residents at Ohatchee City Hall, 7801 SR-77, Ohatchee, AL 36271. Burt will hold his Alexandria session at the Alexandria Community Center and Park, 2065 Alexandria-Wellington Road, Alexandria, AL 36250.
Burt will conclude his announced District 4 tour on Monday, Oct. 27, with a meeting at the Weaver Senior & Community Center, 406 Anniston St., Weaver, AL 36277.
Residents who cannot attend a meeting in person also have opportunities to submit feedback online.
District 3 residents can provide comments through Webb’s online community feedback form:

The sessions are intended to give residents an opportunity to identify concerns, discuss opportunities and share what they would like their incoming commissioners to prioritize once they take office.
Webb and Burt are scheduled to be sworn in Nov. 11.
