Investigation Underway After Residential Burglary on Horns Lake Road; $5,000 Reward Offered

Talladega County Home Burglary Investigation $5,000 Reward Offered

TALLADEGA, AL — The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a residential burglary on Horns Lake Road that resulted in the theft of a large collection of firearms, ammunition, and family heirlooms valued at more than $50,000.

According to authorities, the burglary occurred sometime between April 13 and April 20, 2026, when one or more individuals allegedly entered the home and accessed a secure safe. The suspects removed numerous items, including rare and historically significant firearms, many of which have been described as family heirlooms.

Deputies responded to the residence on April 21, 2026, to begin the investigation.

Among the items reported stolen are several notable firearms, including historical rifles believed to date back to both world wars. Authorities listed items such as a Lee Enfield (.303 caliber), a custom-built 1903 Springfield (.30-06), an M1 Garand (.30-06), and an M14 rifle (.308). Additional items include a 1930s Remington police revolver (.38 caliber), multiple vintage shotguns from the 1930s, and a variety of modern rifles and handguns.

Investigators also reported the theft of firearms such as a Winchester .338 Magnum, two Chinese SKS rifles, a Bushmaster AR-15, an AK-47, and several pistols, including Beretta compacts, a Taurus .380, a Hi-Point .40 S&W, and a Ruger .22. Thousands of dollars worth of ammunition was also taken.

Authorities and the affected family are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible and recovering the stolen property. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and/or the safe return of the items.
